The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has officially removed five Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) from its approved list. The change, effective October 17, 2025, impacts Hotshot trucking operations nationwide, as these devices no longer meet federal standards outlined in 49 CFR Part 395.

Revoked ELDs Affecting Hotshot Drivers

The following ELDs are no longer approved for use in Hotshot or commercial motor carrier operations:

  • PREMIUM ELD – ART KILIM INC, Model PMM, Identifier PMM492

  • TRUE LOGBOOK – Clean Aura Corp, Model 2TRUL, Identifier TRL584

  • XPLORE ELD – Xplore Tech Inc, Model XPLELD, Identifier XPLORE

  • KAMI ELD – KAMI ELD, Model KAME-X456, Identifier KAM683

  • EVO ELD 1 – Evo ELD Inc., Model EVO 1, Identifier G711H2

What Hotshot Carriers Must Do Now

Motor carriers and independent Hotshot operators using any of the above devices should take immediate steps to stay compliant:

  1. Discontinue use of the revoked ELD.

  2. Use paper logs or compliant logging software to record hours of service temporarily.

  3. Install a registered ELD from the FMCSA’s current approved list before December 16, 2025.

Until that date, enforcement officials are asked not to cite drivers using these revoked devices but may request paper or backup records instead. After December 16, 2025, anyone still using a revoked ELD will be treated as operating without a compliant logging device, which can lead to an out-of-service order.

If a provider corrects its deficiencies, FMCSA may reinstate it and update the Registered Devices List.
